Orwell Challenge

Sunday 25th June saw our team of nine join hundreds of other fundraisers, to undertake the mighty Orwell Challenge. Defying the soaring temperatures, we completed the 25 mile walk along the banks of the stunning river Orwell and through the beautiful Suffolk countryside, raising funds for the Gary Gladwell Sports Fund.

Despite the extreme heat (and inevitable blisters), as a team we felt privileged to honour the memory of our dear friend and colleague, and enjoyed taking part in such a well organised local event.

This was the 46th edition of the biggest multi-charity fundraising event in Suffolk, organised by volunteers from the Ipswich East Rotary Club, who provided valuable encouragement, enthusiasm and hydration at each of the checkpoints along the way.

We would like to say a very big thank you for all the donations and support for the Gary Gladwell Sports Fund, which is run by Suffolk Community Foundation. We have now reached over £3,500 for Gary’s Fund and this will be distributed to support Suffolk young people’s participation in sport – something Gary would have valued very highly.
